OTHER ACTIVITIES


The workshop’s detailed curriculum is further enriched by other activities aimed at expanding the knowledge on offer.
For this reason, the following have taken place:

  • 1/ Lectures:
  • By chemist Sotiris    on the possible effects from the use of the materials and precautionary measures.
  • By mathematician Vasilis Viskadourakis on the notion of rhythm within the framework of the “Rhythm and Development” exercise.
  • Discussion with the psychiatrist Gerasimos Stefanatos within the context of the “Self-portrait” exercise.
  • 2/ Seminars:
  • By traditional craftsman   Adamantidis on the toreutic technique.
  • By artist Michaela Theodorakakou on glass casting.
  • 3/ Educational visits to museums and archaeological sites, e.g. the National Archaeological Museum, the Piraeus Archaeological Museum, etc. for the study of bronze artworks, the Herakleidon Museum on occasion of a Degas sculpture exhibition, etc.
  • 4/Educational visits to artists’ studio whose work and career has been connected to bronze casting: Chr. Kapralos, G. Pappas, V. Moustakas, etc.
  • 5/ Research and promotion of the particular history of the first ASFA bronze casting workshop. The material was presented in an exhibition entitled “The ASFA bronze casting workshop” held in 2012 at Technopolis, Municipality of Athens.
  • 6/ Creation of a film, in collaboration with public educational television, entitled “bronze and fire”. The film is in the School’s library and is dubbed (English). Together with “The ASFA bronze casting workshop” booklet they are part of the student educational material.
  • 7/ Visits to casting workshops using the sand casting method.
