The Diffusion of the Elements

Yiannis Melanitis used the main structural characteristic of D624 as a conservatory and turn it into an open laboratory, where he performed an alchemistic act. This is the presentation of a work in progress, a methodology of a ritual. Three main elements - sulfur, salt and mercury representing respectively north, southwest and southeast - are mixed together under the action of the public, who triggers the mechanism, and through the intermediation of a woman. The female body functions as an interstage apparatus in the mixture of nature's elements. She is a conductor. The blown-glass extension that conducts the elements is merely an external visualisation of her internal organs (f allopian tubes, stomach). The entire ritual, lasting approximately 20 minutes, is part of a three sectioned work named ° The Garden' .

Southeast - mercury

A female performer appears to be slightly mutated. She lies on the sulphuric ground with glass sculptures on her body resembling internal organs . She spits saliva which moves to the central part of the glass sculpture to mix with mercury, driping on the sulphuric ground.
